Three years ago I travelled from California to Florida to have the NA Procedure done on my hand by Dr. Eaton.  The experience was great and the procedure was very successful.  Now, three years later, my hand is constricting again.  I am considering making an appointment with Dr. Keith Denkler in Larkspur, California because it would be an over-night visit from my home in Central California, instead of having to travel to Florida.

Have any of you been a patient of Dr. Denkler?  If so, were you satisfied with the experience?  I am hoping to make the appointment some time in March of this year.  Any comments--good or bad--would be appreciated.

Dr. Denkler performed NA a year ago and all went well until Sept 07 when contractures in left hand went nuts.  So I've scheduled an appointment in Larkspur next Friday (2/15/07) for a redo.  Dr. Denkler seems very competent and professional.  Good bedside manner as well.  I'm flying in from Seattle.

Thanks for the reply.  I am glad to hear you were pleased with him and his office.  By "went nuts" what do you mean?  Just that it came back?  It has taken 3 years for mine to become annoying again.

I've had NA four times, 2003 in Paris-Doctor BADOIS, 2005 in Larkspur-Dr Denkler, and again on both hands this past October 2007 Doctor BADOIS. three finger right hand and two fingers on left.

Living in California, in the bay area i was very hopefully that Dr. Denkler would become a locate alternative, again I am aware I was one of his first patients, however, I believe that my Dr in Paris, giving all factors, procedure outcome, technique, recovery, completeness of cord being severed and cost.

My experience in Larkspur wasn't bad, however I did end up with stitches and scare tissue/recovery time...for $1100..two fingers. Paris=3 fingers right hand 300 euros, 6 days later 2 fingers left hand 200 euros.

My recommendation, if you have the time and desire to go to Paris, you should.

Dr. Denkler has undoubtedly performed hundreds of procedures since mine in 2005, and as with anything has more than likely perfected it outcome.

I had my right hand treated by Dr. Badois in November, 2003. The experience was very positve.
I had gradual relapseand after three years had Dr. Denkler retreat the same area. That experience was
equally positive and the results were very effective. One difference was that Dr. Denkler injected cortisone
into the MCP joint capsule and that gradually reduced the encapsulation around that joint. Both Drs. were
equally able to sever the chord and release my 45 degree "pinky" contracture.

I would see either Dr. with complete confidence. I live in Massachusetts; and also lived in California. I
have also spent several vacation trips traveling in France. All things considered, the total cost was about
equal once air fare, hotel and procedure are totaled.

If I had a complex, advanced, or previously operaated on hand (open surgery;) I would probably see
Dr. Lermusiaux if he were available; and at L'hopital Lariboisiere. Next choice would be Dr. Badois at
Soissy. I have not met Dr. Eaton; however, others have posted very favorable reports. And he is a
CHS. Dr. Denkler is a plastic surgeon with a very strong interst in Dupuytren's.

My hand is fine (Stage Zero) and I anticipate seeing Dr. Denkler in about two years in the city by the Bay.
We are fortunate to have so many good choices. Good luck.

Thanks Stage One for the reply.  Your recommendation of Dr. Denkler is appreciated.  I have almost decided to make an appt. with Dr. Denkler.  Mine is just the little finger on my left hand (I am left handed) and not that bad "yet".   I am hoping to be as satisfied with the NA from Dr. Eaton.  Good luck to you too.  yeah

I just had NA by Dr. Denkler last Wed. I had ~90deg total contracture and today, not quite a week later, I have only 20deg. He is charming and has a good bedside manner, though he could assume that you know a little less and explain a little more.

It's early days yet. My incisions haven't hardly healed, but so far I'm completely satisfied w/ Dr. Denkler's treatment.

Flew up last Sunday night and stayed with my son in the East Bay. Dr. Denkler did NA on my thumb and pinkie. It took about 20 minutes. I drove back to my son's house. 2 days later, back in SoCal. It was successful. No swelling. No pain. Slightly sore but not even sore now. I am determined to keep on top of this and never have surgery, so mine was at Level 1, almost level 2 on my thumb. I fully expect it to rear it's ugly nodules and contracture again, so back to Dr. Denkler I will go. No hesitation. He and his wife, who is also an MD, and his staff are all great!

I had NA on right pinky (as posted above) in Oct 2006 by Dr. Denkler. That finger is still straight with some thickening near knuckle joint (PIP.) This year my left pinky also arrived at about 30 degrees of contracture and I returned to Dr. Denkler for NA, and he released the chord with an excellent result.I was careful for a week; but the procedure is remarkably benign. I highly recommend a visit to his office. He mentioned the recent (Feb 2010) approval of collagenase. Now there are more options. There are about eight experienced U.S. Dr.s and more coming.  Be selective; experience and training count.

Hi I am new to this. I am at stage 0 they tell me. All of your comments are so helpful. Thank you. Does anyone know about the
hand splints? They are from Australia. Do they help prevent contracture?
